BOO!

So Halloween was a success!! I should keep track of how many hours go into this holiday... geez. Juliet wanted to be a ghost.. and that was okay with Sam as long as she didn't scare him. Sam wanted to be R2D2. I don't believe in buying Halloween costumes. When I was a kid I don't think you could buy costumes.. so my mother always made them. And that is what I do for my kids. An hour tops on my ghost.

I don't know how many hours I spent on R2D2... but it was WELL worth it. Sam looked awesome.

Then came the pumpkins. Oh yes.. the pumpkins. I spent about 6 hours today carving pumpkins. There was no shortage of pumpkins on my front porch. Did I mention the pumpkins???

So.. like I said, Halloween was a success. Here are a few close-ups of the pumpkins and if you'd like to get up close & personal there's some actual footage... trick or treating & the pumpkin menagerie.

Juliet & Samisms

My kids are cute. They think they have it all figured out. I absolutely adore childhood innocence.

Juliet is cute because she doesn't have teachers, she has "ladies"...

"Mommy where is my lady?" wondering where her swimming instructor was...

"I'm going to show my ladies at school tomorrow..."

"Sammy is that your lady?""... too cute.

Sam is cute because he thinks he was once everything he is not now... "Mommy did I have one of those when I was a girl?" ... or that people will sometime be what they aren't now... for instance when he is all grown up papa & I will be babies.

Juliet is cute because she thinks that she will live in her bedroom forever. And when she has REAL babies.. they will sleep in her spare bed... and papa & I will just be sleeping in our room. Sam thinks he will be the dad.. and Juliet will be the mom. We'll have to touch up on that lesson at a later date....

I don't think Sam realizes that loving someone covers liking them too... because it's always "Mommy I love you and I like you".

My kids are cute because they speak 2 languages and it's sometimes at the same time...

Juliet: "Alex where you s'en va?" or "C'est mine"

Or not exactly in the correct tense...

Juliet: "Papa est-ce-que ca c'est a ton?"

Priceless.

Earth laughs in flowers.

I took this photo in the Jardin Jeanne D'Arc (Joan of Arc Garden) while honeymooning in Quebec City. I think this is when I really started getting into macro. I took a lot of pictures of bees feeding off flowers in the garden. I love photographing flowers. I will post some more of my flower photography... but this one is my fave. I LOVE echinacea... or rather the 'cone flower'... and this is a great shot of one.

the edge of the world

So I decided that I was going to post & talk about my favourite photographs. So here goes... As you will come to see... I love macro photography. This is a photo I took on the beach this past summer in White Rock, BC. I love the detail in the photograph. I find it both beautiful & disgusting in the fact that the barnacles remind me of rotting teeth or fingernails. I like to call this "the edge of the world" because on a lighter note.. it reminds me of the edge of a planet in outer space.. with the barnacles being bursts of fire or gases.
